Finishing Tech Trend class

My first semster in NYU is ended. I hate to say this cliche but it went so fast. Since I came back to school after 5-6 years of being away from school, it was exciting. I was extremly enthusiastic on the every class at the beginning. Everything I hear at the class was so valuable to me , of course including this Music Tech Class. I always wanted to use computer well, but it was not one of my top priority, I was never good at computer. Now I am, at least , able to make my own website with all the cool things like flash, Audacity, movie, and Podcast even if it is still long way to go to master it. I am happy to know about those things and I am grateful to the teacher of Tech Trend class for showing patience and generosity.

Harold and Kumar go to White Castle

I watched this movie last night and in the afternoon, again today. It is that fun. Actually, I watched the second one, 'Harold and Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay' first. It was unexpected fun, also, even though there were some pretty disgusting scenes. (It is rated R in anyway.) I had to watch the first one no matter what.

This movie is about two men, a Korean American and an Indian American, who are trying to go to the hamberger shop, White Castle in the middle of the night and, of course, it is not easy at all. This movie starts from ordinary life of two young men. Harold is working at an investment banking company who likes a girl next door to whom he cannot even talk to. And Kumar is a smart loser who are forced to apply to medical schools by his father but he resists. It is pretty much our or our friend's story and the city they are living is even Hoboken, NJ!! But what's happening to them is extraordinary. I am not going to be a spoiler so if you are curious then watch the movie!

It is interesting since the movie is dealing with the social issues through the happening they are going through such as the issue of living in America as immigrants or non-whites and unfair treatments from policemen. How the director showed these issues are keen, bold, and humorous.

This is another 'dumb' movie. Yet realistic. Those two guys are having lots of lots of trouble by making the decisions even though what they are reasoning is still so right. While watching this movie, you would say, "Yeap, that's so stupid and that's so true!"

I am very interested in independent movies since almost ten years ago. That's why the title of my blog is 'Independent Movies'. Of course, as a musian, I am so into what I am doing now which is playing flute and teaching flute. But talking and thingking always about what I am doing mainly makes me a little tense, so I need a place to relax and broaden my view about the world! Independent movies are very good way to do it for me. Good ones teach me the reality of people, world and art which is so inspiring.

On this blog, I will post the movies I watched and introduce and write a comment about it.

These days, I have not much time to watch movies. I used to watch at least once a week before I started the school. I don't know how often I can post, still I will try to do it almost everyweek!

First article!

I finally created my blog and am writing something on it. I did now know that I was this ignorant about technology until I started taking this tech trend class. But I am a little better now, and it gets more and more interesting!

The first time I see how technology can be used during the lesson was in 2000, Minnesota. My teacher is Keith Underwood and back then was also him. He brought his laptop computer for hime masterclass and showed us the simulation of how a body works when you breathe. Everybody people there were so amazed ,not necessarily by the body thing, but by the simulation!

And second time was by Jim Walker in California during the class also. He gave me this CD called Smart Music which has accompany parts of every flute repertoire. You can chage tempo, volume and even pitch. And It also has metronome function, too. That was also amazing.

So when I was teaching I used a little of Smart Music program on the lessons, but my computer speaker is not as good as it should be to play along. Anyway, it is getting so much easier to practice, study and perform with technology. The key is you. The question would be, " Are you willing to learn those technology and spend some money on machines and programs?" I probably should since it is benefit that 21st century can give!
